Do I need to be registered for Quilt Symposium Auckland 2019 to enter a quilt for a Symposium Exhibition?

Yes, you do need to be registered, ie, you will have a Symposium Registration number.  If you are part of a Re-Enter entry (more than one maker) only one of you must be registered.

Can I submit more than one quilt for the Exhibitions?

Yes, you can submit as many entries as you want overall, and more than one in any category.

Can I submit more than one quilt on an entry form?

No, we require a separate form for each entry.

If I am submitting multiple entries, can I make just one payment?

Yes, you may make one payment to cover all your entries.

Is there a distinction between Amateur and Professional quiltmakers?

No, we don’t differentiate between levels of experience in any category.

Will my entry be automatically accepted for an exhibition?

Entries for the Collaborative Challenge are automatically accepted, however all other categories will go through a selection process.  Your initial submission will be digital images of your quilt which the judges will view and make their selections from.  You will be notified if your quilt has been accepted and you will be invited to send in your quilt.  A final decision will be made by the judges when they see the actual quilts.

When are the quilts judged and when will I have to send my quilt if accepted?

The closing date for submitting the digital photographs is 5 July 2019.  You will be notified by 2 August 2019 if your quilt has been accepted, and your quilt must reach us between 19 – 21 August 2019.  Note - the date for the non-judged Collaborative Challenge (Re-Assemble) is different - please see the Re-Assemble details.

Do I need to attach a hanging sleeve or Velcro to my quilt?

The hanging/velcro requirements are different for each category.   Please see individual requirements under the details for each Category.

How do I label my quilt?

A fabric label must be firmly sewn to the back of the quilt.  It should be placed on the bottom left corner of the quilt when the quilt is viewed from the back.  Please see details under the separate Categories.
